Healthy Start and Healthy Families Medicaid

(Pregnant Women and Children's Health Insurance / Families Health Insurance)

Healthy Start / Healthy Families provides free health insurance for children, pregnant women, and families of low and moderate-income.

Eligibility is determined by the number of persons in the household and total household income.  Children in eligible working families living in Lorain County may qualify until they reach their 19th birthday.

Pregnant women, children, and families enrolled in Healthy Start /Healthy Families receive care through a Managed Care Plan (MCP). The MCP provides a number of health services including hospital or acute illness care, well-child checkups, dental care, eyeglasses, prescribed medicine and immunizations.  At present, there are three Managed Care Plans in Lorain County.  Families may chose their MCP based on their own priorities for convenient location, hospitals, selection of doctors, etc.

Families may apply by mail. No office visit is necessary.

Lorain County residents may call 440-323-5726 or 440-244-4150 to request an application be mailed to you. Ask for the Intake Screening department.
