All children deserve quality health care, and this is the focus of the Healthchek Unit.  Healthchek is a federally mandated preventative health care program for children receiving Medicaid.  The staff of the unit strives to promote wellness and preventative care by encouraging, reminding, referring, and arranging regular medical checkups and follow up appointments. Transportation is also available and arranged by staff if necessary.

In 2006, over 19,000 Healthchek medical examinations were conducted in Lorain County.
