Many folks arrive at LCDJFS with no idea of where to go for help.  I&R (Information and Referral) social service workers see these clients and provide them with information regarding the services and benefits of our agency.  If clients have needs outside the realm of LCDJFS, I&R refers them to other social service agencies available in the county.

I&R staff also see all applicants for PRC (Prevention Retention and Contingency) services. Depending on the client's need, they are directed to the PRC Unit or to another agency in the Lorain County which provides that kind of help.

In 2006, the unit made approximately 7,000 referrals as a result of client interviews.  Many more referrals were provided by telephone.
