Joining Forces is a collaboration between our agency and the Lorain City Schools/Project GRAD. Social services workers based in several of the schools, from elementaries to high school, act as liaisons among the education system, families, and other community services agencies. They work with students who are at risk because of developmental, academic, family, or behavioral problems, with the goals of improving the students' performance and helping parents support their child's efforts. Referrals to the program are made by parents, teachers, or other school staff.
There were a total of 1,684 children and 1,472 families served during the 2006–2007 school year.
